Hello All,
My sincerest apologies for my absence. I have been absurdly busy these past months getting back to reality from my amazing tour of Greece. This week is my one year Etsyversary! I cannot believe it. I was delighted to have my first Created By Storm gallery show which was a great success and is to continue till January 5th! It is hard to believe what a production a show like that is! It is so worth the extra effort though. I am hoping to get back to regularly sharing some of my favorite things with you all at the beginning of the new year! I have also been working on many new art pieces which will continue to debut in my shop so keep an eye out for them!

I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite new discoveries I came across on my travels in Greece:

COCO MAT

This company makes the best sleep products I have ever experienced. They are all natural and completely divine. All the products are made from natural materials from renewable sources, such as coco fiber, sea grass, horsehair, silk, linen, wood and goose down. Great for the environment, and great for sweet dreams.

CEDON

I came across this eccentric shop in Munich Germany and couldn't believe so many cool things could be in one little store. They specialize in fun and interesting home decor, fashion and art books and accessories and amazing gifts. One of my favorite items was the Pantone color mugs featuring the hottest color swatches of the season. Simple and cute. However you could spend hours discovering items in their catalog.

I o a n n a K o u r b e l a - A t h e n s

This designer is brilliant. I was lucky enough to purchase one of her concertina knitted wraps which can be worn 5 ways. Her new fall collection is incredible, and I cannot get enough of this Athens based designer. Her style is so unique and the colors and versatility make this collection perfect for anyone. Every piece is still hand crafted which I love.

Hazelnut Frappe

This yummy drink is a twist on the extremely popular Greek Frappe which originated when a Greek experimented with his usual instant coffee and could not find any hot water. In turn, he created a mixture of coffee and cold water in a shaker. Needless to say, it worked and is a must try if you get the chance.

Evil Eye

It's impossible to visit Greece and not notice the presence of these blue glass eyes which are everywhere. It is meant to stare back at the world to ward off the evil spirits and keep you safe from harm. It will forever be a reminder of our travels.

Buena Vista Social Club

As a great lover of international music, I cannot believe I had to travel to Greece to learn about this incredible Cuban group. Their music is magic and I cannot stop listening to them. Even though their music is only new to me, their sound is timeless.

World Fashion Channel

This was one of the only TV channels in English and quickly became a favorite of mine. The channel is a constant fashion show and interviews about everything fashion 24/7. It is a UK based channel and I loved watching Fashion Week runway shows live from my hotel room. The only thing I don't understand is why this fabulous station isnt a part of my 800 channels at home.

Hello all! My apologies for my absence. I am trying to get back into the swing of things from returning from my adventures in Greece! This reality includes the fact that Halloween, and my Birthday is right around the corner. For obvious reasons, Halloween happens to be my favorite holiday. But what's not to love?
One of my favorite fall activities is decorating my home for the harvest season. As soon as I overcame my jet lag, I got my craft on.

I love this DIY decoration because it is cheap, easy and adorable. I gathered up a bunch of fall colored paint swatches at my local hardware store (free) and found an adorable pumpkin paper punch from the craft guru herself, Martha Stewart ($12.00) I punched pumpkins into some swatches and saved some for backing. Then I used a glue stick to attach the pumpkins to the backing, punched a hole and tied each square to a string. And there you have it a perfect holiday banner! Happy decorating my festive friends!

The Quest for the Perfect Leather Jacket:
Since I can remember I have been searching for the perfect leather jacket. A leather jacket should be an investment, as it has the potential to last a life time. It is the one piece {besides a wedding dress} in my wardrobe I would splurge almost any amount of money for if I found the perfect one. However, that does not mean you have to break the bank to get a great jacket. The key is finding the jacket with the most versatility in your wardrobe. I am looking for a piece that would be dressy enough to wear to a fancy dinner but also give a floral sundress an edge. {Giving Back to your Garden: Mason Bee Keeping}

Being a gardener and entomology enthusiast, I have always had a desire to keep bees. I love bees, and there is noting that compares to fresh honey. However, this can be a complicated process and I currently do not have the time to devote. That is why I plan on purchasing or building a Mason Bee lodge. They are also native to the US so that makes it even cooler

Pollination is vital for beautiful flowers and lots of delicious fruits and vegetables from your garden. If you attract Mason Bees to your garden, you will see the difference. Small, blue-black Mason Bees are nature's mild mannered, peaceful pollinators.In the last few years, the honeybee population has plummeted due to an invasion of foreign mites and viruses, but the Orchard Mason Bee population has NOT been affected. It is found throughout most of North America , particularly in wooded areas but often around homes in towns and cities. Mason Bees are unable to tunnel holes for their nests - they rely on existing holes of the right size. There the female collects pollen, lays her eggs and plugs up the holes. In the spring, the new generation of mason bees will emerge. By providing nesting sites, we can help these bees and keep them from finding other sites, like under siding or wood decks. Even though they do not produce honey, they provide us with better quality gardens and crops and are inexpensive to house.

I love this organic use of moss graffiti as a public art display. These awesome creations are courtesy of Anna Garforth, a London-based artist, Anna Garforth. Inspired by guerilla gardening collectives, who aim to enrich dilapidated public spaces, and my all time favorite artist Andy Goldsworthy, a British artist who creates site-specific art installations from materials and tools found on site.

Make Your Own Graffiti Moss
Originally created by horticulturists keen to add interest to their garden designs, this recipe for moss can be used as an environmentally-friendly alternative to spray paint.

Here is the RECIPE
You will need a blender to make the mixture and if you plan to grow your moss outdoors you will also need a seed tray filled with compost.

Several clumps of moss
1 pot of natural yoghurt or 12oz buttermilk (experiment to see which works best)
1/2 teaspoon of sugar
Plastic pot (with a lid)
Paint brush
Spray-mister

Seemingly, getting the recipe to work can be quite difficult, the location and weather conditions need to be spot on. Moss thrives best in damp areas so if you have to grow it indoors make sure you spray it with water frequently. As soon as it starts to grow, transplant it in your chosen location and watch your graffiti art spread.

{Get Organized: Amazing Tips}

I am always looking for easy solutions to organization woes. Every year we seem to collect more and more things and ever year it gets harder to keep things in their proper place. When I came across this amazing list from a variety of organization experts, I had to share. Every tip is extremely useful and easy. The hardest part will be incorporating all 100 ideas into my routine. But I am going to give it a shot!

Here are a few I found extremely awesome:

8. Use a plastic caddy, not valuable shelf space, to store cleaning supplies for surfaces and floors. Keep it on the broom and mop closet floor (locked, if you have small children) and tote it from room to room.

9. Store sheet sets in the same room as the bed, between the mattress and box spring or tucked into an underbed box. (why havent I ever thought of this?)

12. Put a different color toilet paper than usual behind your stash of regular rolls. When a colored roll ends up on the spool, it’s time to buy more.

29. Use a mini flowerpot with drip tray near the sink to stash sponges, steel wool and food scrapers.

{My Palett Garden}

As a lover of gardening and up-cycling I was thrilled to come across the idea of a pallet garden. It's a perfect way to have a wonderful garden in a limited area and the possibilities are endless. It can be mounted on a wall which is so cool and saves so much space. Also it is perfect for lettuce if laid on the ground. Creating a pallet garden is a pretty simple as well. You need a nice, clean, treated pallet. It is also very important if you are growing edible plants to find one that is heat treated and not chemically treated. The chemicals in the treated wood are poisons that can be transferred into your plants. The way to tell the difference is to look for the heat treated stamp.

When you are ready to create your own garden you can find detailed instructions HERE. I modified mine slightly by adding an inner drip system and mesh screen to conserve soil and keep the moisture consistent. {Also being impatient I didn't have to wait the 2 weeks to mount it} Being married to a chef I chose to plant lots of herbs, lettuce, strawberries and various peppers. I am so excited to see how my garden grows and am so inspired to create more. My next goal is to connect two vertically for peas to grow up. For more pallet recycling ideas check out this link. {Incredible String Gardens}

When I first came across Japanese String Gardening I thought it was amazingly artistic and whimsical but it never occurred to me I could create one for myself. However, recently I found a step by step tutorial for making your own hanging garden. The string gardens are a type of bonsai gardening known as Kokedama, meaning "moss-covered ball." Plants such as orchids, succulents, and carnivorous plants tolerate the conditions of a string garden better then the average plant, but that doesn't mean you cannot try others. I am seeing lily's, tomatoes, strawberries and even fig trees. It is a great solution to gardening in limited space. Hope these photos inspire you to make your own. {Good Eats: Better then Starbucks Lemon Pound Cake}

It sure feels like summer is here in Colorado and nothing says summer like fresh delicious lemons! It is one of the most refreshing flavors.One of my favorite tasty treats is Starbucks Lemon Pound Cake! I set out to find a similar recipe to this outstanding cake and discovered a recipe boasting an even better cake creation. I couldn't believe it and I set out to put it to the test!
One of the best things about this recipe is that it uses only natural lemon flavor. The lemon sugar is to die for! I have never eaten so much batter in my life!

It is not the quickest cake recipe to throw together, but it is totally worth it if you have the time! Not only much better than Starbucks but one of the BEST CAKES EVER. I am going to try it with oranges too!

Hello hello! I am so excited to share this post. As you know I am totally inspired by nature and love to incorporate bits of it in my home decor whenever possible. I recently came across this amazing necklace display from the lovely Boutique Brass Razoo and was smitten. The boutique, although seriously amazing, has no online store and is located in Idaho. So I set off to create one of these beauties for myself. Conveniently I had found a gorgeous wooden frame years ago at a flea market for $20 and it has be hidden away since. As I LOVE having a DIY project I got started right away and decided to give it a few coats of my favorite shade gray I had lying around and set off on a walk with my dog to discover treasured tree branches. {Mental Vacation: Haiku Mill, Maui}

As it is extremely cold today in Colorado, so I wanted to share with you one of my most favorite places in the world and invite you along on a mental vacation to the enchanting Pua Le'a Estate or Haiku Mill! I first discovered the mill when I was looking for wedding locations in Maui. The Haiku Mill, located on Maui's North Shore and is a refurbished sugar mill built in 1853. This is one of Maui's most scenic and historic private estates the stones from the ruins make up part of a lush botanical garden. A lovely Cottage is also available to rent. Here's hoping for a second honeymoon here in the future!

I love it when you read something and immediately relate to it. When I read the introduction to The Makerie it felt like they were describing me and the way I feel about art and crafting!
